Team History

This is the third year the Gems have participated in FIRST Robotics. In our rookie year, 2012, we took home two Rookie All-Star Awards: an award reserved for a rookie team that shows great promise for future growth and success. We attended two competitions and finished 7-5 (11th place) at Gull Lake, and 5-7 (14th place) at Northville.

During the 2013 season, we bounced back after a disappointing first competition at Gull Lake to finish 8-4 (11th place) at Livonia and winning the Xerox Creativity Award.

In the 2014 season, we finished 9-3 (6th place) at Howell, and won the Motorola Quality Award. We proceeded to become the finalists at Livonia, finishing 8-4 (7th place) during the qualifying matches, finishing as the Captain Alliance in the finals, and winning the General Motors Industrial Design Award. For the first time, we advanced to the State Championship at Eastern Michigan University, finishing 7-5 (22nd place), becoming a Quarter-Finalist, and not only winning the State Championship 2014 General Motors Industrial Award, but also qualifying for the St. Louis FIRST Robotics World Championship.

We are excitedly anticipating the 2015 Season, getting ready to grow our team, its members, and the FIRST Robotics program.
